Thomas John Herlein

Thomas was born in Muskegon, MI on June 7, 1948, the third of eight children of Robert and Marie Herlein. A few years later, they moved to a small farm in Custer, MI. All the children helped with the farming and numerous animals and Tom developed his lifelong interest in hunting and fishing. After graduating High School, Tom enlisted in the USAF, served for 26 years starting in the Vietnam Conflict and ending with Desert Storm. Tom ended his career as Chief Master Sergeant after eight different base assignments, gaining a wife and two sons along the way. After USAF retirement, he worked for TDOT and several other positions and moved to Ashland City for official retirement where he enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Carol; and sons, Kenneth and Ian. Visitation will be held at Ashland City United Methodist Church, 103 Oak St., Ashland City, TN, on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4 - 5 pm with the service to follow from 5 - 6 pm.
