"GL" General Lockert Simmons, age 87 of Ashland City, TN passed away at his home on Thursday April 26, 2012. He is preceded in death by his wife Christine Harris Simmons and his daughter June Simmons Green. General Simmons is survived by daughters Sue (Jim) Harp of Ashland City, Margie (Tim) Walker of Brentwood, TN and Tracie Simmons of Ashland City, grandchildren Rick McCracken, Patti (Jimmy) Carroll, Lori (Grant) Zanini and David Walker, great grandsons Cameron and Dawson Carroll, and his "Sweetie" Mary Lee Ellis. Visitation for General Simmons will be at the Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City on Friday April 27th from 12 noon - 8pm, and on Saturday the 28th at the Bearwallow Church of Christ on Hwy 249 from 11am - 2pm. Funeral service for General Lockert Simmons will be on Saturday April 28, 2012 at the Bearwallow Church of Christ at 2:00pm with Bro. Joe Vogle officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Bearwallow Church of Christ Cemetery. "GL" Simmons proudly served his country during WWll in The United States Army. After coming back to the Ashland City area, General enjoyed to farm and was well known for his exacting ability as a back hoe operator.
