Helen Waydeen Balthrop, 86 of Ashland City, passed away October 18, 2012 at the Centennial Medical Center in Ashland City. She was born on June 30, 1926 to parents Jessie James and Beatrice (Pardue) Poole in Cheatham County. Helen Balthrop is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell Balthrop, and sister Virginia Simpkins. She is survived by her four sons Jerry (Virginia) Balthrop of Watkinsville, GA, Ronnie (Betty Gail) Balthrop of Ashland City, TN, Preston (Diannia) Balthrop of Vicksburg, MS, Tim (Kerri) Balthrop of Ashland City, TN, daughter Debbie (George) Carr of Tallulah, LA, brother Stayton Poole of Ashland City, TN, and three sisters Geneva Shaw of Merritt Island, FL, LaVon (Bernard) Simpkins of CoCo, FL, and Bonnie (Elwyn) Pierce of Brentwood, TN. Ms. Helen was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She had belonged to the Women's Auxiliary, the A/C Senior Citizens Center, and was a member of the Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church. Visitations for Helen Balthrop will be at the Boyd Funeral Home on Friday October 19th from 5pm - 8pm, on Saturday from 11am - 8pm and on Sunday the 21st at the A/C Free Will Baptist Church from 1pm - 2pm. Funeral Service for Helen Waydeen Balthrop will be at the Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Wayne Bess officiating. Burial will follow at the Ever Rest of Cheatham Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View, TN. Special thanks from the family are given to her care givers Angie Richardson and Brenda Lewis. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in honor of Helen Balthrop be made to the Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church or the A/C Senior Citizens Center.
