Josh A. Thornton

Josh Thornton age 32 of Scottsboro, TN was born to parents Ronny and Ronda (Boyd) Thornton on April 24, 1980. He died on December 10, 2012 at his home after a long illness. Josh was a 1999 graduate of Cheatham County High School. Josh is preceded in death by his brother Jason Thornton, grandfathers Fee Boyd and James Thornton and grandmother Betty Boyd. Josh is survived by his parents and grandmother Beatrice Thornton, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his dog General'. Visitation for Josh Thornton will be at the Boyd Funeral Home, 101 Elizabeth St., Ashland City on Thursday December 13th from 4pm - 8pm, and again on Friday from 10 -11am. Funeral Service for Joshua Alex Thornton will be from the Chapel of the Boyd Funeral Home on Friday December 14, 2012 at 11:00am, with Bro. Bob Mowrey officiating . Pall Bearers will include cousins and friends with Honorary Pall Bearer to be Josh's close friend and caregiver, William McCloud. Burial will follow at the Cowan Cemetery on Old Hickory Blvd. in Scottsboro, TN. Music for the service will be by Elmo Mercer and a solo will be sung by George Osment, Jr. The family would like to express their appreciation, thanks and gratitude to all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Meharry General Hospital for their care and concern during Josh's many stays. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in honor of Josh be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
