>> >> >> Charles Michael Gibbs, 63, of Ashland City, Tennessee joined the Lord on January 9, 2016. Mike was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 29, 1952 to parents Bennie E. Gibbs and Virginia (Boyd) Gibbs. He was married for 39 years to Alice Rene' (Watson) Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Gibbs, and brother, Larry Gibbs. He is survived by his wife, Rene'; sons Benjamin Grant (Gina) Gibbs, Landon Michael (Christi) Gibbs, Peyton Bryant (Kellye) Gibbs; his mother, Virginia Gibbs; mother-in-law, Mary Ann (Pentecost) Watson; sister Linda Elliott (Bo); grandchildren John Houston "Jack" Gibbs and Olivia Grace Gibbs; sisters-in-law Cathy Gibbs, Paula Henderson and Karen Stone; brothers-in-law Tim Henderson and Thomas Stone; and many other loved ones including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. >> >> Mike was a life-long resident of Ashland City where he met and married wife Rene', and raised his three sons. He was a graduate of Cheatham County High School where he played basketball. Mike attended Austin Peay State University, and during his Junior year, was drafted into the Army where he served at Fort Dix in New Jersey. Mike ran Gibbs Lumber Company, Ashland City's oldest family-owned business still in operation, which began in 1934 in downtown Ashland City. >> >> Mike enjoyed rock n' roll music and playing his guitar, classic cars, family beach trips, hunting with sons, walking with friends, cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores, dancing with grandchildren and spending quality time with his family. He loved to bring joy to those around him through his love of life, incredible humor and contagious laughter. A devoted husband, loving father (the best), doting grandfather, caring son and best friend, Mike will be greatly missed by his family and friends. >> >> Visitation for Mike will be at the Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City on Sunday from 4-7 p.m., Monday from 3-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. under the direction of Pastors David Royalty and Bill Sims. Burial will follow at the Ever Rest of Cheatham Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Grant Gibbs, Landon Gibbs, Peyton Gibbs, Michael Gibbs, Tim Henderson, James Paul Henderson, Thomas Stone, Douglas Boyd and Rick Statler. Honorary pallbearers include: Jack Gibbs, Bill Bailey, Tim Davidson, Dr. Robert Faber, Dr. Charlie Fields, Scotty Knox, Mark Newland, Tim Payne, Dan Reigle, Kip Stratton, Joe Turner, Eddie Wilson and Mike's walking and prayer friends.
