L. May Wilson -91

Lula May Wilson, 91, formally of Ashland City, passed away on Saturday January 13, 2018 at the Waters of Smyrna Nursing Home. May lived in La Vergne, TN for the past year and a half with her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Janice Wilson. May was born January 31, 1926 to the late Luther and Sarah Jane Haynes in Nashville, TN. She worked for the Neuhoff Packing Plant for 2 years then later worked for the Ashland City Sunshine Center for 42 years, retiring in 2008. May was a Lady Vols Basketball fan. Mrs. Hazel Head and Coach Pat Summit invited May to go to Hawaii with them for the 1992 Christmas Invitational Basketball Tournament. She was also a very active member of the Senior Center in Ashland City where she enjoyed jazzercise and walking in the 5 and 10 mile walk-a-thons. She also won the ‘Grand Spook’ contest in the Ashland City 2006 Halloween Contest. May was preceded in death by husbands Eugene Waynick (1948) and Bryant “Buck” Wilson, Sr (2009), son Bryant Wilson, Jr, grandson Michael Waynick, two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by children Larry (Wanda) Waynick, Lewis (Phoebe) Waynick, Russell (Janice) Wilson, and Doug (Melynda) Wilson, sister Pauline Montgomery, nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. The family would like to thank May’s nieces Margarett Crisp and Joyce Luther for being such wonderful caregivers. Also we would like to thank the staff at the Waters of Smyrna. Visitation for Lula May Wilson will be at the Boyd Funeral Home, 101 Elizabeth St. Ashland City, TN 37015 on Tuesday January 16, 2018 from 3 pm till 7 pm and on Wednesday from 11 am till time of service at 1:00 pm.
