Robert Glenn Shivers 79 of Cheatham County passed away on Thursday February 22, 2018 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Glenn was born on September 11, 1938 to the late Clarence H. Sr. and Margaret (Brown) Shivers in Old Hickory, TN. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda (Hudgens) Shivers, sons Tim (Angela) Shivers and Brent Shivers, daughter Clysta Henson. Sister Katherine Williams, grandchildren Travis, Austin, Kailee, Maggie and Abby, great grandchildren Noah and Nora. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clarence H. Shivers, Jr. At the age of 4, Glenn and his family moved to Cheatham County into a log house on the farm his father purchased during the depression. He graduated from Cheatham Co. High School in 1956 and went to APSU in Clarksville. In 1957 he married Linda Hudgens and started their family. He later transferred to UT Knoxville. He temporarily taught in Kingston Springs, before accepting a vocational agriculture teaching position at McEwen High School in Humphreys Co. for the next 20 years. During this period he returned to school where he earned his Masters Degree in Education in 1972. In 1980, he was asked to take a Principal position, which he served at for the next 15 years and later retired in 1995. Over the next several years he continued his career in education as a part time cooperative education instructor for the Humphreys County Board of Education. In 2014 Glenn and Linda moved back to Cheatham County where they have been members of the Ashland City Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in memory of Glenn Shivers be made to the Ashland City Church of Christ College Education Fund. The two day visitation for Glenn Shivers will be at the Boyd Funeral Home 101 Elizabeth St. Ashland City, 37015 on Friday February 23rd from 3:00pm till 8:00pm and on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm with Bro. Drake Jenkins, Mr. Johnny Larkin and Bro Jim Suddeath officiating. Burial will follow at the Floyd Hudgens Cemetery in Ashland City. Arrangements by the Boyd F.H. 615-792-4677.
